Much of my time in 40K is spent reading and researching, probably more than most. Since the Waaagh Ghazghkull supplement was released, I’ve been obsessed with a few of the formations, namely “The Green Tide” and “The Dread Mob”. I have the models to support “The Green Tide” formation, but the majority of my games so far have been boyz-heavy and I feel like doing something different. There’s something about fielding a massive list of Ork walkers that is grossly appealing to me.
On a few of the forums I read, I followed a fellow Ork player who fully embraced “The Dread Mob” and even took it to a national tournament. While not the most competitive, it’s a fun formation and the more I read, the more I’m getting hooked. The formation is as follows:
– Big Mek
– Painboy
– 2 x Mork/Gorkanaut (in any combination)
– 3 x Deff Dreads
– 3 x Killakans (3 in each unit)
Pretty low model count for your average Ork list but who doesn’t love Ork walkers? Ramshackle greasy robotic monsters lurching towards the enemy, enveloped in a cloud of their own thick black soot. Sounds like a nightmare… I love it! At the time of this post, I only have 3 Killakans, 2 Deff Dreads and 1 [M/G]orkanaut. I hope to have the remaining models by the end of the year and have have them painted no later than February 2015.
I’m pretty sure this formation will be my primary painting/building focus from this point forward, followed up by “Wingnutz Air Armada” and “Ghazghkull’s Bully Boyz” but maybe not in that particular order.
