I don’t consider myself clumsy by any means and am abnormally safe when it comes to knives or other sharp objects… but last Friday, my luck turned for the worse.
While trimming the pewter excess from my newly acquired metal Weirdboy, my X-Acto knife (with a fresh #11 blade, mind you) slipped and slooshed through the flesh in my left ring finger. It didn’t sting much a first, but when the blood started to flow, it became real as to how deep this cut really was. With every beat of my heart, a new wave of blood came rushing out. It took a while for the bleeding to stop but once under control, I could see the extent of the wound. This sucker went deep enough to see that it wasn’t going to stay clean or close enough on it’s own so a trip to the nearest Urgent Care was in order.
The doc said no major nerve or tendon damage, just a deep wound. I was kinda hoping for a Cybork finger, maybe a good excuse to finally get that power claw installed. Oh well. Medical grade liquid stitch, and a band-aid later, the drama was over. Here’s a NSFL pic of the finger after the doc was done with it.
I never thought I would get physically injured from 40K, but here we are.
